This year, Troop 340 decided to implement a new tradition for Eagle candidates to plan the location and program for one of the weekend camping trips.  This campout was a personal favorite of the Eagle candidate and the troop had not camped there in many years, so he wanted to share his fondness of this camp with the other Scouts who had never camped there previously.  The Eagle candidate’s choice for their campout was perfect as they were able to camp right on the shore of the lake and got to experience a spectacular view all day long.  Not only did they have the spectacular view of the lake, they got to fish and some of them even caught a few as well as they played potato baseball (this group is resourceful and can make up a game from almost anything).  They also had the opportunity to do some trail maintenance, as they always try to leave where they stay better than they found it.  Additionally, they built a huge campfire and ate well (this included homemade key lime pie that the adults made for everyone).  Lastly, they searched for an old time capsule that the troop had buried there years ago, but sadly they were not able to find it.  Kudos to the Eagle candidate for planning the location and program for this campout adventure, it was a huge success and the troop looks forward to carrying on this tradition for all the up and coming Eagle candidates.
