This year’s theme for the cooking competition campout was Iron Chef. If you’re not familiar with the show; this competition involves two or more teams that are given a “theme ingredient” and each team must produce a dish that incorporates the theme ingredient within a specific amount of time. Looks easy enough on television, so why not incorporate this competition while camping for more of a challenge. I know the two teams; the Sizzling Sausages and the Powdered Doughnuts did not disappoint the judges with their eggseptional culinary skills and eggsellent ideas on how to work around their limited cooking utensils…do you see what I did there? But I digress, team Sizzling Sausage wowed the judges with their grilled chicken, rice with Hungarian paprika and grilled potato wedges and team Powdered Doughnuts were just as impressive with their spaghetti and meatballs (with cilantro), fresh mashed potatoes and garlic bread (soaked in butter and garlic); great job to both teams for stepping up to the challenge in this competition. Lastly, the adults who attended this campout deserve an honorable mention for being so “fancy”, as they took camping to another level with their dining accessories which happened to include a candelabra with real candles; who knows maybe they will start a new trend moving forward.
